The work investigated the effect of polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) on the tribological properties and corrosion resistance of epoxy/hydroxylated hexagonal boron nitride (EP/OH-h-BN) composite coatings. Results showed that the average friction coefficient and wear rate of the EP/OH-h-BN/PTFE composite coating with the mass ratio of PTFE to EP of 0.8 decreased by 68.4% and 60.3% compared to those of EP/OH-h-BN coating, respectively. Moreover, the coating still exhibited the largest vertical bar Z vertical bar(0.01 Hz) value of 2.28 x 10(11) Omega center dot cm2 after 80 days of immersion in 3.5 wt% NaCl solution, which was about 5 times of EP/OH-h-BN coating. The enhancement of coating properties was attributed to the synergistic strengthening effect of OH-h-BN and PTFE.
