• The WS2 @Ti3C2 nanohybrids with heterostructures were synthesized. • The complex amphiphilic biopolymer protein BSA adsorbed onto the surface of fabrics, which enhanced interfacial adhesion. • The tensile and bonding strength of the reinforced hybrid fabric composites increased by 35.91% and 68.51%. • The wear rate of the reinforced hybrid fabric composites was decreased by 59.3%. • The synergistic effects of bioprotein decoration and WS2 @Ti3C2 could create robust tribofilm on the steel counterpart.
