Triple perovskites have garnered research interest in recent years because of their diverse physical properties. This review article delves into the significance of triple perovskite oxides, an important variant of ABO3-type perovskites. It provides a comprehensive overview of recent advancements in understanding these A3B3O9/A3BB2′O9 oxide materials, emphasizing their chemical structure and its interplay with diverse properties such as magnetic and electric behaviors. A new framework is proposed to distinguish these functional materials from the other perovskite variants. In addition, the article explores potential technical applications including renewable energy devices, thermistors, optoelectronics, and triboelectric nanogenerators within the perovskite family.
