This discussion on the experimental work presented by Hili et al [1], and MacLaren and Kadiric [2] to investigate thermal aspects of elastohydrodynamic lubrication in rolling/sliding contacts and validate the analytical model for thermal reduction factor for elastohydrodynamic film thickness, as presented by Gupta et al [3], against their experimental data. The discrepancy between the analytical predictions and experimental observations are correlated to the inconsistencies between model assumptions and experimental conditions.
